16 Collyer Quay aka Raffles @ Income (formerly known as Hitachi Tower) is a grade A office building located right beside Raffles Place MRT station with an underground walkway connecting to it. 1. Malacca street which connects Market Street to D ‘Almeida street is one of the oldest street in Singapore that exist before 1836. It was named after the Malaccan city in Malaysia for unknown reasons. Previously this street is a commercial area lined with single or double-storeyed shophouses , home to many merchants and brokers. As announced on 2 January 2013, NTUC Income had acquired the remaining 51% stake from Goldman Sachs to gain full ownership of the building.
This leading insurer in Singapore had earlier acquired 49% stake from Savu Investments which is the holding company and part of Goldman Sachs in January 2011.
The whole acquisition values the property at around $660 million for a net lettable area of 278,800 square feet which translates into less than $2400 per square foot.
