Alexa.com is a website that is dedicated to displaying website data and is a particularly good tool for researching the marketplace. When performing market research we use the following techniques to find using the Alexa network. Hot Searches Headlines This will give you an idea of what some of the top searched terms are from the preceding weeks. If you want an instant boost in traffic, you can jump under search terms relating to the Hot Searches (make sure it fits into your business). If you are a real "keener", you can create a campaign around the hot searches for some quick traffic and revenue. The "hot searches" headlines are located at the top of Alexa.com homepage. This is also a good indicator of seasonal search activities. You will get a good idea of what market trends are on the rise. This presents an opportune time to create a list. "Product-Type" keywords We have used this for quite some time now to determine how much search engine traffic a particular company or website keyword will receive. If you type in a URL into Alexa and it returns an Alexa rank under 100,000 overall, it is safe to say the website receives a decent amount of traffic and there is room to promote under product related keywords. Site Information You can get information on how long a site has been around and the traffic they have received over the past years. If a website has received high volume traffic for several years, chances are they have a solid business and will be a safe program to promote as an affiliate. New Product Notifications We have explained the power of jumping on hot trends, but it is also a good idea to promote brand new affiliate programs & affiliate products. There are many different affiliate networks such as CJ.com, Linkshare.com, Shareasale.com, and Clickbank.com that constantly have products being added to them. In many cases these products are fresh to the internet marketing world, and if you pounce on these before too many others do it can have a huge impact on your earnings. Better yet, these networks (excluding Clickbank.com) send you notification when a new product has been added to their network. If a new program did not have an existing affiliate program in place the owner will most likely be looking to create SUPER AFFILIATES. Jump on a program on the bottom floor when it is new, make some sales, and quite often the merchants will let you in on some data and resources that would not otherwise be released to normal affiliates. This may include top converting keywords, phrases, marketing ideas, and raw conversion data. Take advantage of product keywords right away as competition will be low due to MOST affiliate being "slow to the draw" | |
